A Russian man has been accused of stabbing his heavily pregnant wife to death after he was asked to stop smoking because his cigarettes were bad for the baby.
Petr Murskov knifed Olga Murskova eight times at their home in the village of Koshki in Russia’s southern Samara Oblast region, it is claimed.
The 30-year-old is said to have flown into a drunken rage late at night after his teenage stepdaughter asked him to stop smoking in the flat and reminded him the habit was harmful to babies.
Tamara said: ‘He [Murskov] went mad after being asked not to smoke and attacked Olga’s daughter, trying to beat her up, but Olga stepped in and he attacked her instead.
‘Reports say Murskov grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed 36-year-old Olga, who was seven months pregnant, to death. He allegedly stabbed her in the stomach eight times, and in her chest and neck.Olga’s daughter ran out of the flat to the stairwell calling for help and soon led neighbours to the scene.
They reportedly found Olga lying on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood and called the emergency services. The paramedics arrived only to confirm that both Olga and her unborn child had died.
Murskov was arrested and has been taken into custody for two months while the investigation is ongoing. A police spokesperson said: ‘A criminal case was opened. The suspect was charged with murder and taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing and the detectives are finding out all the circumstances preceding the murder.
‘Tamara said: ‘I am very sorry for Olga’s daughter who is now left without a mother and saw all this horror. All the residents of our village are in deep shock. We mourn and send our condolences.
May this monster get what he deserves.’The couple married several months ago. She was a shop manager and he was unemployed. The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison if found guilty. The investigation is ongoing.
